A path is an empty space, a space where nothing
else grows - no trees or bushes or vegetables. That emptiness allows one to
go somewhere. Paths are created by the footsteps of hundreds, thousands of
people over time. Early Christians said simply that they followed The Way.
The Buddha said he had a found The Middle Way.
Samsara means circle in Sanskrit. It describes how
our thoughts tend to repeat, turn in a circle over and over again in repetition,
an endless wheel that the Hindus see as the reincarnational wheel of birth
and death.
A path cuts through the circularity. |
