Learning to build this site put me on the most intense learning curve.
I set out looking for a course, but soon discovered the net itself offered almost everything I needed.

HTML-Kit - a freebie which greatly facilitates writing and checking HTML.

A number of free and evaluation thumbnailers including IfranView and JPEG Optimiser.

Dreamweaver - it's amazing how much work one can get into the 30-day evaluation period! But it did everything I needed, and so I did end up buying it.
